Basic Homeware offers affordable stainless steel products
Stainless steel products are durable. In addition, they are easy to maintain. However, many people do not prefer to buy these products. Plastic and other products are their choices. One of the reasons may be the non-fashionable designs of stainless steel products.
To offer stylish and affordable stainless steel products, a brother and sister duo launched a startup, Basik Homeware. Vidhi Jain and Viral Jain from Mumbai are brother and sister.
Vidhi worked as a fashion designer, and Viral was in his family’s homeware business. As their family has a homeware business, the siblings wanted to start their own venture in the same industry.
They observed the choices and preferences of consumers and found that most of them preferred to buy colourful products with beautiful designs. Besides, price is another criterion for consumers while buying a product.
So, Vidhi and Viral decided to launch their brand to offer aesthetic and pocket-friendly homeware products, like tiffin boxes, vacuum flasks, water jugs, coffee mugs, casseroles etc. These products are priced in the range of ₹100 to ₹1,000.
The products of Basik Homeware are elegant. It collaborates with artists and graphic designers for the design of the products.
The startup focuses on school children by offering products with vibrant colours and cartoon characters. At the same time, to attract young urban customers, it offers a stylish collection of products.
As stainless steel products are durable, they are expensive. But, Basik Homeware claims to give stainless steel products at 25% cheaper than the products available in the market.
The startup does not import raw materials, that’s why its products are cheaper. They source material from local vendors.
Basik Homeware’s products are primarily made of stainless steel, yet, some parts are made of BPA-free plastic.
Like many businesses, Basik Homeware also struggled during the pandemic due to a severe financial crunch. But they managed to overcome it. It has a manufacturing unit in Gujarat.
