Sakshi Malik eager to get back in the ring
Sakshi Malik won a bronze medal for India in Rio 2016. She received a warm welcome home. However, she is not basking in the glory. Even though it’s almost been a month she says she hardly had any time for herself.
She says she has been rather restless since her return with many felicitations, sponsorship commitment, promotional events etc.
After so many events, she just wants to go back to her life. She says she is very eager to get back on the wrestling mat. Due to all the attention, she is getting, she says she hasn’t found time to get back to training. Sakshi is not happy that her training has stopped since she returned from Rio.
Sakshi is looking to finish all her responsibilities and get back her to passion. She is itching to start her training again. When asked how soon she will be doing that, she says she hopes to do so in the next week. If not, she is sure to get back to her training from at least October 1.
Talking about her experience this month, Sakshi says she was very happy to have met some of the country’s greatest sportspersons like Sachin Tendulkar and Pullela Gopichand. She says they gave her a lot of motivation and that she learned many things from them.
Sakshi recalls Sachin’s words. His advice was that all of this will come any time her victory comes. He told her that if she didn’t win medals, all of this would go away. He told her that winning a medal comes first and training hard about it is all that matters.
Sakshi got a medal in one of her first tries which is a dream for many athletes. However, she says that she is not satisfied at all. She wants to win a medal again in Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
