Air India felicitates wrestler Sakshi Malik | Fusion - WeRIndia

Sakshi Malik became the first Indian to win a medal for Indian at the Rio Olympics 2016. Wrestler Sakshi Malik received a lot of cheers and support from all over the nation. In order to honor her great play at the Olympics, Air India has taken an opportunity to felicitate her. The airways decided to reward the 23 year old wrestler.

A little backstory first. After winning the medal, Sakshi said she chose sports as a profession so she would be able to travel in an airplane which has been a dream for her. Her statement touched many hearts.

As Sakshi is bringing home a medal and also great honor for the country, Air India has presented her with a return business class ticket for her and a companion.

Air India wants to offer this as a mark of gratitude for the wrestler along with her companion. They gave her the option to get business class tickets between any two stations. The offer is valid for a period of one year for her.

Furthermore, Air India also wrote a felicitation letter to Sakshi. In the letter, they expressed how they were proud of Sakshi winning the first medal for India in Rio Olympics 2016. They said that the entire nation is proud and happy for her achievement.

Sakshi won a bronze medal in Women’s Freestyle 58 kg category. She won her match with Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kyrgyzstan. With her technique and hard work, she managed to defeat her Kyrgyzstan opponent earning the first medal of this Olympics for India and getting the fourth bronze medal for India in wrestling in the history of Olympics.

After her victory, she received many congratulatory messages and wishes from all over the nation. The Haryana government also promised her a gift of Rs 2.5 crore and a job promotion by the Ministry of Railways. She will also receive Rs 3.11 lakh as part of the Rani Laxmibai award.
