Now you can get an Aadhaar card for your newborn
Aadhaar card is vital nowadays. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) issues this card.
Now, the UIDAI allows issuing Aadhaar cards for the newborns as well. There is no need to provide the biometric data of the newborn while applying for an Aadhaar card. It is similar for minors as well.
Note that the newborn’s UID is processed on the demographic details of parents. Similarly, a baby’s facial picture is linked with the UID of its parents. Parents have to provide the finger biometric details of their newborn babies when they turn five years and facial photography after they attain 15 years.
You can apply online or offline for the Aadhaar card of your newborn.
You have to visit the Aadhaar Enrolment Center for the offline process. Fill in the form and submit it along with relevant documents.
If you want to apply online for the Aadhaar card of your newborn, then visit the website of UIDAI. Click on the Aadhaar Card Registration link.
Enter the name of your newborn, phone number of parents, their email ID etc.
Fill in the required details like address and other demographic information. Then, click on the Fix Appointment tab. Schedule the date for the registration of the Aadhaar card of the newborn. Then choose the nearest Aadhaar enrolment centre. You have to finish the enrolment process at the centre on the scheduled date of appointment.
Correction for change of date of birth is allowed only once. So, check the date of birth of your newborn twice before submitting the online form.
While visiting the enrolment centre, carry all essential documents and the reference number. Also, take the printout of the form. As the newborn’s Aadhaar card is linked with the Aadhaar card of the child’s parents, you should carry your Aadhaar card also. Besides, the birth certificate is also essential for the enrolment of the Aadhaar card of the newborn.
