Eight dead, 28 injured in Lucknow building collapse
A tragic building collapse in Lucknow’s Transport Nagar area on Saturday evening has resulted in eight deaths and left 28 others injured, according to the latest report from the Relief Commissioner’s Office.
The three-storey building, a medical warehouse located under the Sarojini Nagar police station, collapsed suddenly. As a result, several people were trapped under the debris.
The injured victims were immediately rushed to three local hospitals under the Krishna Nagar Police Station for emergency treatment.
Rescue teams, including personnel from the National Disaster Response Force, the State Disaster Response Force, and the Fire Department, have been working tirelessly to pull out survivors and recover bodies.
Deputy Commissioner of Police RN Singh, overseeing the rescue operations, stated that they aim to finish the rescue efforts as soon as possible and secure the surrounding buildings.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his grief over the loss of life and has instructed officials to expedite the relief operations.
He emphasized the importance of quickly transporting the injured to hospitals for proper treatment and extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased.
CM Adityanath wished for a speedy recovery for the injured in the incident of the building collapse. Several others also expressed their sorrow.
One of them is the Defence Minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh. He expressed his sorrow over the incident, calling the incident extremely painful.
Rajnath Singh confirmed that he had spoken with the District Magistrate and commended the local authorities for their ongoing relief efforts.
Rescue operations remain in full swing as officials, continue to monitor the site. Even the District Magistrate and local law enforcement are also involved in the rescue operations.
Efforts are being made to ensure that any remaining survivors are rescued and that the area is made safe for further investigation.
