2400 villages adopted by Indian Americans
Many Indian Americans have chosen to adopt more than 2400 villages in Andhra Pradesh as part of the “smart village-smart ward’ program which focuses on comprehensive development of the areas. Telugu Desam Party leader and son of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Nara Lokesh has met up with many Indian Americans in Los Angeles, San Jose, Chicago, New York, New Jersey, Washington, Portland and Dallas, and asked them to invest in the villages in AP.
Many Indian Americans who were impressed by the idea of program have decided to adopt more than 2417 villages in AP. Lokesh has visited Assistant Secretary of Commerce Arun Kumar and discussed about the smart city project especially about that of Visakhapatnam, stated a media statement.
Lokesh has stated that the day when AP will become a formidable force is not far. He added that it will set new precedents in the Nation. He explained the potential of the state and its capability to become a investment destination and requested the support in making AP a manufacturing hub. Lokesh also met a host of business leaders including Vinod Khosla, founder of Sun Microsystems, Shantanu Narayen, CEO of Adobe and Paul Humphries, group President of Flextronics regarding this.
