2018 National Film award winners
The 65th National Film Awards were announced on April 13 in New Delhi. India’s entry for the 2018 Academy Awards, “Newton”, has won several awards in this year’s National Film Awards, including the award for “Best Hindi Film”.
The jury also gave the “Special Mention” award to actor Pankaj Tripathi, who had played a pivotal role in this movie. Sridevi won the “Best Actress” award posthumously for her outstanding performance in the thriller “Mom”.
Abbas Ali Moghul won the “Best Action Direction” award for “Baahubali 2-The Conclusion”. This movie also won the award for “Best Popular Film”. The “Dada Saheb Phalke Award” went to veteran actor Vinod Khanna.
The chairman of the central panel for this year’s National Film Awards was Shekhar Kapur, known for “Mr. India” and “Bandit Queen”. The award for “Best Screenplay (Original)” was given to the Malayalam movie “Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum”.
This movie also won the award for “Best Malayalam Film”. The Malayalam movie “Take Off” and its actress, Parvathy, won the “Special Jury Mention National Film Award”. For non-feature films, the award for “Best Audiography” was given to Avinash Sonawane for his work in “Pavsacha Nibandh”. The “Best Editing” award went to Sanjiv Monga and Tenzin Kunchok for their editing work in “Mrityubhoj The Death Feast”.
For feature films, the “Best Feature Film” award went to “Village Rockstars”. “Mhorkya” won the award for “Best Children’s Film”. Jayaraj won the award for “Best Direction” for his work on “Bhayanakam”. “Bhayanakam” also won the award for “Best Cinematography”.
While Sridevi posthumously won the “Best Actress” award for “Mom”, Riddhi Sen won the “Best Actor” award for “Nagarkirtan”. Fahad Fazil won the “Best Supporting Actor” award for “Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum”, while Divya Dutta won the “Best Supporting Actress” award for “Irada”. It has been an excellent year for movies in India, and all of the recipients certainly deserve their awards.
