Doctors generally prescribe blood diluent medicine after someone goes through a heart attack or a stroke.

The main purpose of those medicines is to forestall blood clots.

However, there are two kinds of blood thinners that is anti-platelet drugs and anticoagulants.

Anti-platelets are used to stop blood cells from sticking together and Anticoagulants help the proteins in the blood to not form clots.


Here are some foods you should avoid while on these drugs.

Green tea

Even though green tea is healthy, it is not good for people on blood thinners.

The Vitamin K in the tea can reduce the usefulness of these medicine and end up causing blood clots.

Cranberry juice

Cranberry and its juice are to be avoided for people using blood thinners.

This is because cranberries act as natural blood thinners.

This can cause internal bleeding.

Alcohol

Mixing alcohol and medicines is almost never a good idea.

The effects of the tablet get reduced because of alcohol.

This means the effect will be ruined.

Omega Fatty acids

One must avoid food rich in Omega Fatty Acids while using blood thinners.

These fatty acids have the property to increase risk of bleeding making them dangerous to be used along with blood thinners.

Leafy vegetables, organic meat especially foods like chicken liver and herbs are some other foods that are to be avoided.
