Smart Wearables Aim to Transform Parkinson’s Care

Innovation in healthcare is increasingly shifting from diagnosis alone toward continuous, personalised support at home.

Lifespark Technologies is developing wearable and digital tools to make neurological care more responsive.

Founded in 2018 by engineer Amey Desai and gastroenterologist Dr Devendra Desai, the Mumbai-based startup focuses on conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and stroke.

Its flagship product, WALK, uses sensors and haptic feedback to support movement in people with Parkinson’s.


Worn around the knees, the device tracks walking patterns and provides vibrations that can help users move more easily.

After beta testing with 267 people, Lifespark launched the product commercially in 2025. It currently sells at a discounted price of ₹49,999.

However, the company’s innovation extends beyond a single wearable. Lifespark is building Pathfinder, a SaaS platform designed to understand how neurological conditions differ between patients.

Parkinson’s can progress differently from one person to another. Therefore, Pathfinder analyses walking patterns and therapy responses to identify individual risk factors.

The platform aims to generate actionable reports for neurologists and physiotherapists. It can also identify potential points where professional intervention may become necessary.

Meanwhile, patient and caregiver tools focus on exercises, therapy targets and personalised insights.

Lifespark is also developing MyoRhythm and MyoAir, which use electromyography to measure electrical activity in muscles and nerves.

The devices explore closed-loop electrical stimulation for issues such as tremors and spinal excitability.

In addition, the startup is working on a compact patch that could adjust walking patterns in real time over an extended period. WALK is also being tested for stroke and multiple sclerosis applications.

The company develops and assembles its products in India, working with manufacturing partners across several states. It has also collaborated with institutions including IIT Bombay, AIIMS Delhi and NIMHANS.

Lifespark’s broader innovation lies in combining wearable sensing, haptic feedback, AI and remote neurological care.

The goal is to move treatment beyond occasional hospital visits and bring personalised monitoring into everyday life.
