Man who used cameras to change the face of agriculture
This is the tale of how Digital Green is empowering agriculturists to become video makers, which is transforming them into more productive farmers and more certain individuals. This has been made conceivable by Rikin Gandhi, an Indian-American aeronautic designer, who had not in any case seen a village before 2006!
Snehlata Sinha, one of the beneficiaries of Digital Green in Sardar Bigha village of Nalanda said that Agriculture is the only thing they do for income generation and if they are not even doing it properly, they won’t be able to survive?
She got associated with a local self-help group (SHG) in her village and was connected to a team which taught her amazing things through videos. Right from farming techniques to irrigation, Digital Green has helped them a lot. She used to get 50-55 kgs harvest in her farm, but after learning from the videos, she now manages to harvest around 70 Kgs.
Gandhi, an Indian-American who had never seen a village till 2006, is currently contacting more than 6,000 village through his association and attempting to enhance the lives of a great many farmers. His belief is that technology can provide advanced solutions in a simple way to many problems. He uses these videos to help the farmers. However, the special part here is that it is the farmers who make these videos after receiving training. This means that basically farmers are helping each other through technology.
