Low-cost stone dust to keep homes cool
Many historical monuments like India Gate, Qutub Minar, Jaiselmar Fort etc. are carved from stone.
The stone craft was glorified in the past. Now modern construction material replaced it.
To bring back its significance to stone craft, Parshva Shah launched Artemis Cast Stone. This Ahmedabad-based engineer uses cast stone technology to make eco-friendly architectural products. His startup, Artemis Cast Stone upcycles waste stone dust.
The company offers different services include home décor, landscape elements, furniture items, lighting décor and fixtures.
Parshva is a Civil Engineer. He procures waste stone dust from quarries and stone processing centers.
His company makes sustainable products from a mix of materials. These materials are waterproof and fireproof. Among these materials, 40 per cent is stone dust. These materials keep the house cool naturally.
So far, 120 tonnes of stone dust has been upcycled by the company. The cast stone technology not just promotes upcycling but also reduces air pollution.
The products of the company last for more than 20 years.
Parshva says that stone is lighter and cheaper when compared to concrete-based items. Besides, the stone is stronger than ceramic and clay.
Artemis Cast Stone carves different types of creative designs. They are funky and colourful.
The company offers a wide range of colours, shapes and textures to their customers to choose from.
In addition to that, their products are weatherproof and can sustain heavy rains and storms.
Also, they are thermal-conductive and keep inside of the house or building cool naturally.
The cost of products is based on their type. Yet, the company also claims that the majority of their products are cheaper than their counterparts available in the market.
