Low cost and smoke free crackers
Firecrackers are fun for many children. However, they cause a lot of damage to the environment. They also cost quite a bit of money.
These days more people are getting environment friendly and banning them.
However, an assistant professor from Indian Institute of Science Education & Research named Dr Samrat Ghosh decided to make crackers usable.
He is developing ‘green’ firecrackers. They are safer to use, they don’t emit smoke, and even better is that they are reusable.
They are safe to use even by kids and they can be used in any weather conditions.
In order to embrace the ecofriendly part even more, the crackers are made with recycled plastic bottles.
It was in October 2017, Dr Harsh Vardhan, the Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, asked scientists from various government institutes to create e-firecrackers.
He wanted to control pollution and make sure that crackers are safe to use. Now Dr Samrat made these crackers and they can be produced in India itself.
After the supreme Supreme Court ordered a temporary ban of firecrackers in the NCR region, many people were disappointed that they could not burst crackers, however Dr Samrat took it as a challenge.
He wanted to use his skills and finally show India a fun and safe way of bursting crackers.
The scientist used disposable bottles and filled it with combustible material. It can be ignited with a source, like a spark.
The burning material generates pressure which makes the rocket go up. Samrat tested the safety of these rockets and even a four-year-old kid could use them without trouble.
The recipe for this material is very safe and doesn’t emit smoke. There is no debris from it and it also releases a fragrance to keep the air smelling good.
