People in Chhattisgarh can get govt. services at their doorsteps
To help people get hassle-free services, the Chhattisgarh government launched Mukhyamantri Mitaan Yojana. The programme aims to offer delivery of government services to people at their doorsteps.
Mitaan means friend in the local language. It helps people like a friend in getting government services.
To get the services of government, people need to visit offices multiple times, which consumes much time. Also, it is a hassle process.
But, the Mukhyamantri Mitaan Yojana focuses on the delivery of government services at the doorsteps of residents. In this way, it focuses on saving their time and reducing their hardships in getting government services.
Many senior citizens, differently-abled people, women, and farmers are using the services at their convenience. Since there is no need to wait in long-standing queues to avail of government services, they are happy using them while sitting at their homes.
The Mukhyamantri Mitaan Yojana is implemented in 14 urban local bodies (ULBs) in 10 districts at present. It aims to extend to remaining urban regions also in the future.
Residents of the state can avail of 18 services under the programme. Some of them are birth and death certificates and their corrections, caste certificate, income certificate, marriage certificate and corrections, domicile certificates etc.
Those who want to use the services have to call a given toll-free number, 14545, to schedule a meeting with the Mitaan service.
They will be informed to keep the necessary papers ready as per the required certificate. They can choose the day and time at their convenience.
After that, the applicant will receive an SMS with all these details. The officials will visit the applicant’s house as per the specified time on the phone call, along with necessary equipment like tablets.
They will check the papers and upload them to the tablet computer. After a thorough review, the applicant will get their certificates at their doorsteps with a nominal fee of ₹50.
The state government launched the programme in May 2022. It helped many locals in getting government services. As per sources, more than 53,000 citizens received certificates.
