New air travel guidelines
Domestic flights will start their operations from 25 May. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) for all airports to recommence domestic flights. These new travel guidelines should have to be followed by passengers who want to travel on flights.
Here are the new air travel guidelines:
- Passengers will have to reach at least two hours in advance of flight departure time.
- All passengers should have to install the Aarogya Setu app on their mobile phones for air travel. However, it is not mandatory for children below 14 years.
- Before entering the airport terminal building, they must walk through a thermal screening zone.
- Airport operators should make proper arrangements for sanitization of the baggage of passengers before they enter into the terminal building.
- Passengers will have to wear face masks and hand gloves.
- Staff at the airports, especially at passenger touchpoints, will have to wear face shields or glasses.
- All airport staff shall have to wear PPE. Airport authorities shall have to provide hand sanitizers for staff as well as passengers.
- Airport authorities should have to make continuous announcements on social distancing and other norms.
- Boarding is allowed in batches to maintain social distance.
- Seating arrangements shall be done as per the social distancing norms. Seats not being used will be blocked using markers and tapes.
- There will be no provision of newspapers and magazines in the lounges or terminal buildings.
- Only those passengers whose flights are within four hours will be allowed into the terminal building.
- Except for special cases, trolleys will not be allowed in the arrival or departure sections.
- The state governments must arrange proper public transport and cabs or taxis for airline crew and passengers.
