Nestled in the picturesque Shivalik Hills, the Mansa Devi Temple is a sacred oasis that carries a rich tapestry of legends and devotion.

Standing majestically on the hilltop, this temple complex spans over 100 acres, embracing the village of Bilaspur near Mani Majra in Haryana’s Panchkula district.

This divine haven is shrouded in a tale that dates back centuries. Locals witnessed a cow arriving daily to offer milk at three adjoining stone places on the hill’s peak.

Upon further exploration, three sacred Shilas believed to be the forehead of Shri Sati, were discovered. This discovery ignited a profound wave of worship, leading to the temple’s construction.

The main temple of Shri Mansa Devi, as it stands today, was built by Maharaja Gopal Singh of Manimajra.

A mere 200 meters from the main temple, the Patiala temple was constructed by Sh. Karam Singh, the then Maharaja of Patiala, in 1840.

Initially, these temples received patronage from Manimajra State. However, following the merger of princely states into Pepsu, the state’s support waned, and the temples fell into neglect.

To resuscitate the temples, the Raja of Manimajra appointed a temple caretaker for the deity’s worship.

After the merger of the princely state, these caretakers gained control over temple affairs and land.

Yet, they struggled to maintain the temple and provide for devotees, causing a decline in the temple’s condition.

The Mansa Devi Temple complex showcases an exquisite design with wall paintings, floral motifs, and a sprawling area for spiritual activities. Constructed in the early 19th century, it has earned renown as one of North India’s most prominent Shakti temples.

The temple pays homage to Shakti, the cosmic energy and divine feminine force that reigns over the universe in Hinduism and Shaktism.

Within the temple complex, a tree holds special significance, where devotees tie sacred threads with hopes of having their prayers answered. This age-old tradition adds a touch of mystique to the temple’s atmosphere.

The temple, now maintained as a heritage site by the government, stands as a testament to the deep-rooted devotion and rich history that envelops the Mansa Devi Temple.

In this tranquil haven amidst the Shivalik Hills, legends and faith intertwine, creating a vibrant and spiritually charged ambience.
