IRCTC's ePayLater Service | Fusion - WeRIndia

In order to improve the satisfaction of passengers and provide better services, a new facility has been introduced by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd. (IRCTC) in association with ePayLater, a Mumbai based Company.

Passengers can book tickets and pay within 14 days from the date of booking by choosing book now and pay later option on the Railways website.

ePayLater is a simple process and passengers can check out with a single click. There is no need to enter your 16 digit card number. It is hassle-free booking.

It is a pilot project and passengers of Railways can opt for ePaylater scheme. They have to pay service tax at the rate of 3.5 per cent per transaction in addition to the other taxes.

Passengers have to provide certain basic details while they are using the service for first time. Their email ID, their mobile number that was linked to Aadhar and PAN should be submitted.

The eligible of the customers will be decided based on their past transactions, social media and any other available sources.

Customers can pay using their debit or credit card and also via net banking. However, cash payment is not available at present.

The customers will be sent reminders via SMS or email before due date and after the due date they will be reminded periodically.

Those who do not pay on time i.e. within 14 days, will have to pay interest at the rate of 36 per cent per annum for the number of days the amount due or a flat amount of ₹20 as a penalty.

Customers will be given a leeway for some days after 14 days after which legal action will be taken against them.

Nearly 6 lakh transactions are being recorded on IRCTC at present and the ePayLater is aimed to capture at least 5 per cent of them.
