RailOne vs IRCTC: Which railway app offers more convenience
Indian railway passengers today rely heavily on mobile applications for faster and smoother travel planning.
While IRCTC has long remained the preferred choice for ticket reservations, RailOne is steadily emerging as a comprehensive alternative with several additional services.
IRCTC continues to be a popular platform for booking reserved train tickets across AC and sleeper classes. Moreover, passengers can secure last-minute travel through Tatkal and Premium Tatkal bookings.
Beyond rail travel, the application also supports flight, bus, and hotel reservations. In addition, users can order meals during their journey through the e-catering service available via the platform.
Meanwhile, RailOne has entered the space with a broader range of railway-focused services.
Like IRCTC, it enables passengers to book reserved train tickets by selecting their boarding station, destination, travel date, and class of journey. Furthermore, the application allows users to order food during travel.
However, RailOne extends its capabilities beyond standard ticket reservations. Most notably, it offers unreserved ticket booking and platform ticket purchasing directly through the application.
These features are currently unavailable on the IRCTC app, giving RailOne an advantage for passengers who frequently use general compartments or need quick platform access.
The Ministry of Railways introduced RailOne as a unified platform designed to bring multiple railway services under a single interface.
As a result, users can access services that previously required separate applications. The platform combines features commonly found across IRCTC and UTS while adding several passenger-friendly tools.
Another key benefit is its real-time train information services. Users can track train running status, view coach positions, and check train schedules without switching applications.
Consequently, passengers can manage most travel-related requirements from one place.
Although both applications support reserved ticket booking and food ordering, RailOne focuses on delivering a wider railway ecosystem.
Therefore, travellers seeking additional conveniences such as platform tickets, unreserved journey tickets, train tracking, and coach position details may find RailOne more versatile.
As Indian Railways continues its digital transformation, passengers now have more choices than ever.
While IRCTC remains a strong booking platform, RailOne is positioning itself as a one-stop solution for a complete railway travel experience.
