India’s first railway station with 5-star hotel

Indian Railways wants to improve facilities for its users. As part of the modernization of the railway stations in the country through public-private partnerships, the Gandhinagar Capital railway station has been upgraded with modern amenities, including a luxury 5-star hotel.

The hotel is spread across 7,400 square meters. It has 318 rooms. The cost is ₹790 crores. The hotel has a convention centre to host seminars and conferences for national and international guests.

Gandhinagar Capital railway station is the first such station in the county that has world-class amenities at par with modern airports.

This first-of-its-kind railway station has many modern amenities. Aimed to be a Divyang-friendly station, it offers many facilities to them. The railway station has a special ticket booking counter, lifts, ramps, and dedicated parking space for differently-abled people.


The building has Green Building rating features. This aesthetically designed building gives a spectacular look with its colourful lighting. It has various theme-based lighting with 32 themes for each day. The railway station has a separate entry and exit through the landscaped area.

There is an inter-faith prayer hall, an exclusive art gallery with a live LED wall display lounge, centralized AC waiting hall, baby feeding room, Double height entrance lobby, and a large ticketing facility.

The development of this railway station and construction of the five-star hotel started in 2017. Now, the station is ready with all modern-class amenities.

PM Modi inaugurates the five-star hotel built on the redeveloped Gandhinagar railway station today through video conference. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also join the inauguration ceremony virtually. Apart from both, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani, and several other VIPs will join the event.

In addition to the inauguration of the 5-star hotel, PM Modi will also flag off some train services.
