IIT Bombay Student Offered Rs.75 lakh Salary
Sri Meghana Thotakuri from Khammam is an IIT Bombay student. She was selected in Google campus recruitment on Monday and was offered Rs.75 lakh as salary. She is studying final year in Computer Science and Engineering.
Sri Meghana was a 52 rank holder in the All India IIT entrance exam in 2010. Her father Srinivas is working as Assistant Engineer in Chennai NTPC and mother Vani is a government school teacher in Ramagundam.
Sri Meghana achieved 57th rank in the written examination conducted internationally by Google recently. She is a rank 27 holder nationally. After that Google conducted interviews in Mumbai in which she was selected and offered Rs.75 lakh.
This is not a new thing for IITians recruited for such huge packages. Several companies visit various IIT campuses to recruit for their companies. Some reports stated that in 2012 the highest salary offered for the IITians was Rs.63 lakh per year in IIT Bombay. Other sources stated that this year one student from IIT Kharagpur was offered Rs.91 lakh per annum.
Several others suggested that many companies are interested in recruiting students from IITs. The jobs for them are increasing by 15 to 20%, the salaries are increasing 10 to 20% and global offers are increasing by 30%.
