Government reconstitutes Cabinet Committees

The central government yesterday announced to reconstitute the committees and establish eight Cabinet Committees. Home Minister Amit Shah has been made a part of all the committees.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is part of 6 committees.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi heads all the committees except the Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, which will be led by Rajnath Singh.

The committees and their members are as follows:


Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has only Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah in it.

The Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA) has PM Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar as its members.

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), headed by PM Narendra Modi, has External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Nirmala Sitharaman in addition to Rajnath Sing and, Amit Shah as members.

The Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs will include Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, Railways Minister Piyush Goyal, and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi, in addition to Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Arvind Ganpat Sawant.

Cabinet Committee on Accommodation will be led by Amit Shah. Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman and Piyush Goyal are its members.

Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman, Narendra Singh Tomar, Ravi Shankar Prasad, S Jaishankar, Piyush Goyal Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister DV Sadananda Gowda, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and Harsimrat Kaur Badal as members.

The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs which is headed by Rajnath Singh will have Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, Narendra Singh Tomar, Ram Vilas Paswan, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar, Social Justice Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi as its members.
