Facts about Hindon Airport
Hindon Airport is operating its first flights today. It is the second airport in Delhi.
Here are some facts about Hindon Airport:
- Hindon airport, technically the second airport in Delhi, is located close to Ghaziabad, in Uttar Pradesh.
- The airport is aimed to reduce the load of passengers at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.
- Hindon airport belongs to the Indian Air Force (IAF) and is situated a distance of about 40 km from IGI airport.
- A civil enclave has been developed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in the complex. It was inaugurated by PM Modi in March, 2018.
- The civil enclave costs nearly ₹40 crore which can handle up to 300 passengers in peak hours.
- Hindon airport is also known as Hindan airport. Its commercial operations begin from today.
- All security arrangements have been made and 55 policemen that are specially trained will be deployed to avoid inconvenience to the passengers.
- The first commercial flight from the airport will be of Heritage Aviation. It is a nine-seater plane to take off for Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district.
- The price of one ticket in the aircraft is ₹2,500. Heritage Aviation also plans to launch flights for several popular destinations including Shimla, Dehradun, Faizabad, Gulbarga, Hubli, Nasik and Coonoor.
- The airport director said that flight connectivity from the airport to Hubballi Airport in Karnataka will begin from 6th November.
- Many airline operators will operate from Hindon connecting several cities under UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) of the Civil Aviation Ministry’s scheme.
- The civil enclave, which cost around ₹40 crore, can handle up to 300 passengers during peak hours.
- Several 3-tier cities will be connected through aeroplanes after the operations begin in a full-fledged manner.
