Devipuram: A sacred journey into divine feminine energy
Spiritual spaces often leave lasting impressions through silence, devotion, and inner transformation. Devipuram, however, offers something far deeper.
It stands as a living centre of Shakti worship, spiritual learning, and personal awakening rooted in the philosophy of the Divine Mother.
Located amid serene surroundings, Devipuram is widely known for its unique Sri Meru Nilaya temple.
Designed in the form of the sacred Sri Chakra, the temple represents Goddess Lalita Tripura Sundari and the cosmic energies of creation.
Unlike conventional temples, devotees can physically enter the Sri Chakra structure, interact closely with the deities, and perform puja themselves. This rare accessibility creates a deeply personal spiritual experience.
The journey within Devipuram often begins at the Dattatreya Guru Peetam. Dedicated to Lord Dattatreya, the combined form of Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshwara, the temple symbolises the Guru principle.
Visitors believe that seeking blessings here prepares the mind and spirit for deeper experiences within the sacred complex. The calm atmosphere and serene deity inspire humility, wisdom, and gratitude.
The significance of Devipuram also lies in its inclusive spiritual philosophy. The temple encourages women, children, and devotees from all backgrounds to actively participate in rituals and worship.
Furthermore, devotees can directly perform archana and abhishekam, practices usually reserved for priests in many temples. This openness reflects the temple’s vision of spiritual equality and empowerment.
The sacred complex was founded by Sri Amritananda Natha Saraswati, formerly Dr N. Prahlada Sastry, a nuclear physicist turned spiritual master.
Guided by mystical experiences and devotion to the Divine Mother, he established Devipuram as a centre where Sri Vidya practices became accessible to sincere seekers without barriers of caste or gender. His teachings emphasised direct spiritual experience and inner transformation.
Even after his passing in 2015, the temple continues under the guidance of Guruji Amma, Srimati Annapurnamba, along with their daughters.
Together, they preserve Devipuram as both a spiritual sanctuary and a vibrant ashram community.
Today, Devipuram remains far more than a temple. It represents devotion, empowerment, sacred knowledge, and the living presence of the Divine Feminine.
