  1. World’s first university, Takshila was established in India in 700 BC. Over 10,000 students from all over the world used to come to this university to learn nearly 60 subjects.
  2. The corridor of Rameshwaram temple is 4000 feet long. It is the longest corridor in the world. It has 985 carved pillars on either side of it.
  3. India produces around 1000 varieties of mangoes. Each of the variety is named after the tastes, flavors, colors, shapes, places etc.
  4. India experiences all the six seasons of a year, namely: Summer, summer monsoon, winter, winter monsoon, spring and autumn.
  5. India has 4,00,000 mosques which exceeds the number of mosques in any Muslim country.
  6. India spun and wove the cotton earlier than any other country in the world. Mughals called it as “morning dew”.
  7. The board game ‘Snakes and Ladders’ was invented by Saint Gyandev in the 13th century. He named it as ‘Mokshapat’. In that game, ladders signified virtues and snakes represented vices.

  9. The first successful eye transplant was done in India by a British Army surgeon. He transplanted the cornea of a freshly killed antelope to restore the vision of his pet antelope.

  11. Even though many countries tried to invade India and conquer it, India never invaded any country in its history.
  12. Ayurveda is one of the earliest school of medicines which was fused by Charaka nearly 2500 years ago. Sushruta, used to perform complex surgical procedures 2600 years ago without having the latest equipment. Thus, both father of medicine and father surgery were Indians.
  13. The world’s richest temple is Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram which is approximately Rs.1 lakh crore. Considering the precious metals and stones it has, it is far ahead of any other religious institution in the world.
  14. India has the largest postal network in the world with its1,50,000 post offices.
  15. India first discovered the diamonds and it was the single source of diamonds till 1896 in the world.
