UP government to offer free treatment for post-COVID effects

Post-COVID care is essential as many COVID-19 recovered patients are suffering from post-COVID effects also. Hence, medical attention is essential for most of them. However, due to a lack of knowledge and access to healthcare, many patients are ignoring post-COVDI effects.

Several of them do not know how to get treatment for these symptoms and whom to contact.

In this situation, the Uttar Pradesh government decided to provide post-COVID treatment to the recovered patients free of charge.

The government ordered all government and private medical colleges to offer free treatment to the patients seeking post-COVID treatment.

Alok Kumar, the Principal Secretary of the Medical Education Department, issued an order in this regard. The order said that those admitted to medical colleges and tested negative after a period but had to remain in the hospital due to post-COVID difficulties would be given free treatment.

Currently, patients were charging fees after they get a negative report and remained in the hospital due to post-COVID difficulties.

But, the government said that these patients shall be treated for free. The order will benefit many patients seeking post-COVID treatment. The free treatment will be offered to patients who admitted to all government and private medical colleges and special medical institutions, including Sanjay Gandhi PGI and KGMU.

Last month, the UP government announced that it would only bear the cost of COVID-treatment for the patients who admitted to private hospitals. The government also issued notification regarding the last rites of COVID-19 patients. As per this notification, the last rites will be performed by the state government according to the religion of the patient. The cost will be borne by the state government. It issued orders to all rural and urban officials in this regard.
