Toilets to turbines
NTPC Ltd has committed itself to building 24,000 toilets. The company is in an overdrive as the dealing to build these toilets is coming near. The company is awarding contracts at a very fast pace after finalizing the technical specifications for these prefabricated toilets. After completing the civil works, it is said that each of these toilets will cost around Rs. 2 lakh. NTPC is the largest power generation utility in India.
A senior official at NTPC who did not want to be named stated that the company will meet the deadline. The specifications for the toilets have already met the standards. He stated that the company has now gained expertise from toilets to turbines.
The Swachh Bharat mission is one of the projects of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and he has special attention towards it. Of the target of constructing sixty million toilets, 5 million were already built in the last year of 2014-15.
NTPC is India’s largest power generation utility and it has an installed capability of 44,598 megawatts (MW) and has a 17 percent share of India’s power generation capability of 267,637MW.
The specifications for lavatory construction to be built in schools are exacting in terms of earth works, concrete works, brick works, flooring, roofing and sanitary fittings.
