Section 144 withdrawn in Jammu Municipal limits
Jammu and Kashmir have been put on high alert as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order. Section 144 which bars the gathering of 4 persons or more was being implemented in the region.
Security forces have been deployed across the Valley especially in all major towns including Srinagar. Every 100 meters, barricades have been erected. Only people who have medical emergencies are allowed to pass on the roads.
All telephone and internet connections have been stopped. Only three news channels including Doordarshan can be accessed through cable TV networks. Even police personnel and security forces are using satellite phones.
But the restrictions are slowly being relaxed to bring the situation to normalcy.
The restrictions in Jammu and Kashmir have been partially lifted. Yesterday Sushma Chauhan, the deputy magistrate of Jammu district informed that Section 144 has been withdrawn from Jammu municipal limits.
All schools and colleges would be open today.
Yesterday people are allowed to pray within their neighborhood for the Friday prayers, yet the gates of Jama Masjid remain shut due to which prayers were not observed at the Masjid.
The situation is normal and in under control in Jammu as per the Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, Muneer Khan.
The restrictions have been eased after the directions of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval who asked the authorities to make sure that no Kashmiri was harassed.
Restrictions were relaxed in civil line areas for free movement of people. Considering the people’s gathering for Friday prayers and the existing anxiety in people that can provoke mass protests, necessary steps have been taken by the officials.
In the eve of Bakrid festival, people are expecting complete relaxation. However, the decision of the government may be announced by Sunday.
