PM Modi to unveil advanced saffron Vande Bharat Train
In a significant development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the second saffron-coloured Vande Bharat train today, linking Varanasi and New Delhi.
The Northern Railway highlighted the train’s distinctive features, including advanced passenger amenities, in a recent press statement.
The newly launched train boasts superior facilities, such as onboard Wi-Fi infotainment, a GPS-based passenger information system, diffused LED lighting etc.
In addition, the train will have plush interiors, individual touch-based reading lights, bio-vacuum toilets, and concealed roller blinds. One of the most interesting features is that every seat has a charging point beneath.
Notably, the train’s air-conditioning system is equipped with a UV lamp for a germ-free supply of air. And the system intelligently adjusts cooling based on climate conditions and occupancy.
The inaugural run from Varanasi to New Delhi is scheduled for 2:15 pm on December 18, 2023.
Subsequently, during regular operations, the train will depart from Varanasi at 6:00 am, except on Tuesdays, and reach New Delhi at 2:05 pm. After a 55-minute halt, it will depart for Varanasi at 3:00 pm, reaching its destination at 11:05 pm.
This saffron-coloured Vande Bharat train follows the success of the first one, which currently operates between New Delhi and Varanasi.
The initial Vande Bharat train, launched on September 24, runs six days a week, excluding Thursdays.
Addressing concerns about colour choice, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized that scientific considerations informed the decision.
He clarified that yellow and orange are the most visible colours to human eyes, and nearly 80% of European trains utilize these hues.
Vaishnaw dismissed any political motivations behind the choice, asserting that it was a purely scientific decision aimed at maximizing visibility.
The Vande Bharat initiative represents a stride towards modernizing India’s railway infrastructure, offering passengers a comfortable and technologically advanced travel experience.
As the second saffron-coloured train embarks on its journey, it symbolizes the nation’s commitment to innovation and efficiency in the realm of rail travel.
