New 100 Rupee note – know about it
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) made an announcement about the upcoming new ₹100 banknotes. They said that they will be issuing these banknotes shortly.
This new ₹100 banknote will be in the new Mahatma Gandhi Series. The banknote will have a base color of lavender.
A motif of Rani Ki Vav will be placed on the back side of the banknote. Rani Ki Vav is a heritage site that is located in Gujarat.
Although the RBI will release these new ₹100 banknotes soon, the existing ₹100 banknotes will continue to be legal tender.
The dimensions of the new ₹100 banknote will be 142 millimeters in length and 66 millimeters in width.
The new banknote has geometric patterns aligning with the color scheme on both the back and the front.
The RBI said that the printing and supply of this new banknote will gradually increase.
The obverse, or front side, will have features such as a see-through register with the number 100 in the Devanagari script. The reverse, or back side, will have the year of printing on the left. The Swachh Bharat logo and its slogan will also be on the reverse of the new ₹100 banknote.
The RBI also revealed some other features of the new ₹100 banknote. Alongside its other features, the back side will also have a language panel.
The front side will also feature a latent image with the denominational numeral 100. A portrait of Mahatma Gandhi will be in the center of the note. An Ashoka Pillar emblem will be on the right of the front side.
On top left and bottom right of the front side, there will be a number panel with numerals in ascending font.
The right of the front side will feature the RBI emblem, a guarantee clause, and a promise clause complete with Governor Urjit Patel’s signature.
