Modi set to launch a skill development program

Skill development program

Even though several leaders of the Sangh Parivar are busy in a “hate campaign” against Muslims, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch a skill development programme for the weavers. By the end of April, the Prime Minister is set to launch the scheme called “Ustad” in Varanais. In Varanasi, most of the weavers belong to the minority community.

Following Modi’s direction, the Ministry of Minority Affairs has already chalked out the programme – Upgradation of Skills for Development.

During the Lok Sabha poll campaign, Modi had made a promise to the weavers in his parliamentary body that the BJP government would bring them into the mainstream of life and link them with the international market. Around twenty seven per cent of the population in Varanasi is weavers.

The programme is being called Ustad in the memory of late Ustad Bismillah Khan, the shennai maestro. The unskilled and skilled weavers would receive training to compete with various weaving industries across the world. Weavers will also be sent to other nations in order to improve their skills and understand the importance of being part of an international market. This will also help the weavers export their products to foreign countries.
