Mahadayi river is meeting the drinking water needs in draught areas of Goa.

The dispute is not a new issue. It was arisen again after Manohar Parikar, the CM of Goa wrote a letter to BS Yeddiyurappa, Karnataka BJP president.

Goa Water Resources Department Minister alleged that Karnataka violated orders of the Apex Court by diverting river water for irrigation purpose which was actually intended for drinking water requirements of the citizens of the state.

The main intention of the activists for organizing bandh twice is to give the PM a message that Karnataka would not be silent on the water issue.

It needs a proper action to be taken to solve the dispute.
