There is a panic environment in the country now. Especially, in areas near Jammu and Kashmir, there is a frightening condition. And most people are losing their patience and sharing provoking messages on social media.

At the same time, some activists are talking favourably to Pakistan. Some even are spreading rumours to create a panic environment in the country.

In the aftermath of Pulwama terror attack, the Police are observing people who share rumours and other such messages.

In this context, the Police booked Shehla Rashid, an activist and research scholar from Jawaharlal Nehru University for allegedly spreading rumours on Twitter.

She tweeted that around 20 Kashmiri women students were “trapped” in a Dehradun hostel when a mob was demanding for their eviction. She also said in her tweet that police were not able to disperse the mob.

The Uttarakhand Police condemned this message saying that Rashid is trying to create panic and disturb the peace in that area.

They said that there was no mob waiting for the blood of the women, and no truth in the trapping of women in a hostel. She allegedly tweeted and provoked other citizens.

Hence, they registered an FIR against her under various sections of the IPC as she was intentionally provoking the breach of peace.

She again tweeted that the police booked a case against her, but did not take any action on Vikas Verma Bajrang Dal convenor who was provoking mob attacks with his speeches on newspapers and ordering Kashmiris to leave Dehradun.

Several people claimed that many Kashmiris that live outside Kashmir were harassed after the Pulwama attack. Some of them were asked by their landlords to vacate their accommodation with the fear of the attacks.
