Government might conduct JEE in December again

It has recently been announced that the government may start to conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) twice per year.

Lakhs of students are appearing for these medical and engineering tests.

Therefore, the government is planning to conduct both JEE and NEET again in December. They want to conduct these exams twice per year so that students can have more opportunities to bring out their best performance.

Currently, NEET and JEE are being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). However, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct these exams in December.

The first examination will be held in December of 2018. Initially, the entrance examinations held by the CBSE will be conducted by the NTA. They will be conducted online at least twice a year. This will allow all candidates to bring out their best in these examinations.

After the NTA is fully geared up, other examinations will be gradually taken up as well. The establishment of the NTA will be beneficial for about four million students appearing in the various entrance tests.

Over time, the NTA will be able to relieve the AICTE, the CBSE, the IITs, the IIMs, and other agencies from having to conduct these entrance exams. This will enable these agencies to put more focus on their core mandate.

The NTA will bring in a standardized and highly-reliable difficulty level to the exams. This will allow them to best assess the intelligence, aptitude, and problem-solving abilities of the students taking the tests.

The NTA will be comprised of a chairman, a CEO, and a board of governors. The chairman will be an educationist appointed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

The CEO will be the director general and will be appointed by the Center. The board of governors will be comprised of members from user institutions.

Since these entrance exams will now be held more than once per year, students will have far more opportunities to perform their best at these tests.
