Free pan-India calls from BSNL from May 1
State owned Telephone services provider is offering a new plan which gives unlimited free calling scheme during night hours. This free call system will be available from today onwards.
The user can make calls to any operators including mobile phones. It is applicable to anywhere in the country between 9 pm and 7 am. The offer covers all types of connections.
BSNL chairman and Managing Director, Anupam Shrivastava has stated that this offer is an effort to modernize their landline business and make a huge comeback.
They have already made ready the copper cable lines in order to support landline traffic. Further they have procured millions of landline instruments to meet the demand of customers’ demand.
It is further added that this scheme has no end date fixed yet. BSNL will consider it after six months.
Since there has been a negative growth for the past few years, BSNL believes that this scheme will give boost to the growth of fixed line. At present there are only 27 million fixed line connections when compared to the 960 million wireless connections in India.
If more people shift to fixed lines, it will reduce the load on wireless networks, states Deloitte Haskins & Sells LLP Partner Hemant Joshi.
