The saffron party BJP sweeps most part of India especially in the North and Western parts.

Here are some key highlights of election results:

  • Rahul Gandhi, the Congress President concedes his defeat in Amethi. He congratulated Smriti Irani of BJP who leads by 33,000 by yesterday evening. However, Rahul Gandhi leads by over 3 lakhs in Wayanad, Kerala.
  • Independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh has won Mandya in Karnataka by defeating Karnataka CM Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil Kumaraswamy.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi wins Varanasi seat by a margin of 3.85 lakh votes.
  • Amit Shah wins Gandhinagar seat by more than 5 lakh votes.
  • Mehbooba Mufti, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and PDP chief loses Anantnag seat in the state.
  • Sadhvi Pragya wins Bhopal seat by 3 lakh votes.
  • Krishna Pal Singh of BJP wins Guna seat in Madhya Pradesh by over 1.5 lakh votes.
  • Tejasvi Surya of BJP wins Bengaluru South seat.
  • The party workers have been invited by the BJP to headquarters in Delhi to celebrate.
  • The Union home ministry has alerted all states and Union Territories on the likelihood of violence in different parts of the country.
  • BJP’s lead is continuing in all seven seats in Delhi.
  • Arvind Dharmapuri of BJP wins the Nizamabad seat against Kavitha by a margin of over 69,000 votes. Kavitha is the daughter of K Chandrasekkar Rao, the Telangana Chief Minister. In 2014 elections, she won over Congress leader Madhuyashki Goud by a margin of 167184 votes.
  • In 2014 elections, there were 16 contestants here in the elections. But in 2019, 185 candidates contested in the Nizamabad constituency.
