As mentioned by the sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi takes oath today at 7:00 p.m.

Prime Minister and his Council of Minister will join swear-in ceremony in New Delhi today. Approximately 8,000 guests are likely to attend the ceremony including several key leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal and Trinamool Congress leader decided to attend the event at the beginning. However, BJP invited the relatives of 54 party workers who lost lives in the political violence occurred in the time of elections in West Bengal. As soon as Mamata came to know this, she cancelled her participation in the ceremony.

Other key leaders that are likely to join the swear-in ceremony are Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy.


Leaders of BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) countries that confirmed their attendance include Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, President of Bangladesh Abdul Hamid, President of Myanmar U Win Myint, and Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotay Tshering.

Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and Kyrgyz Sooronbay Jeenbekov will also attend the event.

Several corporates will also be part of the event.

The security arrangements near Rashtrapati Bhavan have beefed up. Nearly 10,000 security personnel from Delhi Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed for this event.

Several roads in New Delhi will be closed on Thursday between 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and a public advisory has been issued on this. Meanwhile, YSR Congress chief Yeduguri Sandinti Jaganmohan Reddy will also take oath as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for the first term on Thursday afternoon.
