Dr. Manmohan Singh received the Top Japan’s Awards

Former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh received one of the Japan’s top Award: ‘The Grand Cordon of the Order of the Paulownia Flowers’. He was awarded this rare honour by Japanese Emperor Akihito at a splendid ceremony at Imperial Palace in Tokyo on Wednesday. He is the first Indian to receive this prestigious honour for his substantial contribution to promote the friendly relationship between both Japan and India for over 35 years.

Dr. Manmohan Singh is a popular economist and served as the 14th Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014. He was the first prime minister to be re-elected after completing his full term as PM. Since Jawaharlal Nehru, no other prime minister has achieved this.

As per the statement of Japanese Embassy in Delhi, the award is a high level National Order which is awarded to those who are renowned for their notable involvement and Dr. Singh is the first Indian recipient of this honour.

Dr. Singh expressed his happiness on receiving this prestigious honour and thanked the people and government of Japan for their love and affection poured on him. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Presdient of India Pranab Mukherjee, and many others congratulated Dr. Singh on receiving the award.
