Bharat Biotech’s vaccine likely to come in February
The coronavirus pandemic has been terrorizing the entire world this year. People everywhere are hoping for a vaccine to solve this crisis. Many countries are working day and night to find a cure. Scientists from all over the globe are doing their best.
In this context, the Bharat Biotech laboratory has given good news and a sigh of relief to many. It announced that their vaccine for COVID-19 could be launched as early as February 2021. They have already entered the last stage trials this month.
A senior government scientist has given this announcement that could potentially help the world go back to normal.
Bharat Biotech has been working with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) run by the government to develop their vaccine called COVAXIN.
Previously, they thought they would launch the vaccine by the second quarter of 2021. Rajni Kant, a senior ICMR scientist, said that the vaccine is showing a lot of promise and efficiency and it is expected to be ready earlier than expected.
If COVAXIN is launched by February, it would become the first Indian made vaccine to be rolled out.
Other potential vaccines are being developed by other countries as well. As of now, the most promising vaccine is an experimental vaccine developed by AstraZeneca, a British Origin Pharma company. The UK is planning to roll out their vaccine in late December 2020 or early 2021.
Moderna Inc, Pfizer Inc with partner BioNTech SE, and Johnson & Johnson are some other companies which are in the late stage of developing a vaccine.
These vaccines hold the hope of many people as the virus is still wreaking havoc in many nations including India.
