62 People Killed in Jammu and Kashmir Floods
On Thursday afternoon, in Jammu and Kashmir, 50 people who were washed away while returning from Barat were feared dead.Only 3 were rescued by local people, while the remaining are missed in water.So far none of them nor their bodies were recovered.With this, the death count of the Jammu and Kashmir floods reached 62.
Eye witnesses reported that two buses were travelling with the passengers who attended a marriage party. The first bus safely crossed the bridge but the second bus was washed away by the strong water currents.The current floods are considered the worst floods that J&K has ever witnessed in the past two decades. The number of deaths in this floods is now 62 and several hundreds were injured over the last 24 hours.The Police and the Army rescued over 200 people in various places in the state. Indian Air Force is kept on alert by the Government for aerial rescue evacuation operation in the affected areas.
