Gallstones are hard pieces of material formed of digestive fluids like bilirubin or cholesterol.  They are formed in the gallbladder. The size of gallstones ranges from a grain of sand to a golf ball.

However, some people have the following symptoms: Nausea, pain in the right shoulder, pain between shoulder blades, sudden and intensifying pain in the centre or upper right portion of the abdomen or just below the breastbone. People who experience symptoms generally need gallbladder removal surgery.
