Benefits of Rose Tea

Rose is made from dried or fresh rose petals or rosebuds. Loaded with antioxidants, polyphenols, many vitamins and minerals, the tea has many benefits.

Method to prepare rose tea:

You can use fresh or dried rose petals for making rose tea. If you are using fresh petals, wash them thoroughly. Keep these petals in hot water for five minutes. Use three cups of water for one cup of petals. Strain the mixture and add honey to taste. You can also add green tea or black tea leaves. If you use these leaves, then steep them in hot water along with rose petals and wait for a few minutes. Then strain the tea and drink it.

  • Rose tea is rich in vitamin C. Hence, it can improve your immune system by stimulating the production of white blood cells.
  • It regulates hormones and eases menstrual cramps, pain, and discomfort.
  • Oxidative stress leads to many chronic diseases. Consumption of rose tea relieves stress and depression. It helps regulate mood swings. Rose tea has myrcene and quercetin, which help reduce the risk of chronic health conditions.
  • It also controls sleep disorders. Consuming the tea before going to bed helps relieve insomnia.
  • Rose tea can fight against gastrointestinal tract infections with its antibacterial properties. It can also relieve digestive issues like stomach bloating, cramps etc. It works as a laxative and relieves constipation.
  • It soothes the respiratory tract, throat, and lungs. It also helps relieve mucus and phlegm. Thus, it can prevent cold and flu.

However, rose tea has some side effects as it contains an excess amount of antioxidants and polyphenols. These include nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and headache. Hence, consume the tea moderately to get health benefits and avoid adverse effects. Also, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers should avoid consumption of rose tea due to a lack of research on this.
