Now, you can buy unreserved tickets using Paytm
The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) updates its services regularly. Recently, it introduced a mobile application, Confirmtkt, to provide information about available seats and berths under the tatkal quota.
Now, Railways moved a step further to promote digital transactions. To help passengers book unreserved and platform tickets through vending machines, IRCTC partnered with Paytm.
IRCTC hopes their partnership will help passengers get tickets through Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM) hassle-free.
The ATVMs are touch-screen based ticketing kiosks. These are installed at railway stations to promote digital payments. Railway passengers can pay digitally at these kiosks without the requirement of smart cards.
Now, the partnership of IRCTC and Paytm eases the digital payment process with just a click. Passengers can scan the Paytm QR code to make the payment. They can also use the UPI option for the payment of the ticket.
In addition to journey tickets, passengers can also buy platform tickets, renew seasonal tickets, and recharge their smart codes using through UPI option or scanning Paytm QR codes.
This new solution has gone live across all ATVM machines at many railway stations.
Here is the process of booking your ticket through ATVMs:
Select your desired route on the ATVM and choose Paytm as a payment option. A QR code will appear on the screen. Scan it to make the payment. You will get a ticket after the completion of the transaction.
If you want to recharge a smart card, you can also do it. For this, enter your smart card number that needs to be recharged. Choose Paytm and scan the QR code to complete the transaction. Your smart card will be recharged.
Paytm also hopes the latest digital payment solution will help passengers go for the cashless commute. Besides this service, Paytm also offers many other services to railway passengers through its app. These include reservation of train tickets and payments to e-catering services.
