HDFC mobile ATMs useful during COVID restrictions
Now going out is considered risky. You can avoid going out for buying vegetables, groceries etc., as they can be home delivered if you order them online. However, you have to visit an ATM to withdraw cash.
Considering the prevalent COVID situation and restrictions imposed by various state governments across the country, HDFC bank announced the facility of Mobile Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) in various places.
This is not new to the bank. Last year during the nationwide lockdown, the bank deployed mobile ATMs in 50 cities to facilitate banking transactions for its customers. Now, again, the bank decided to bring these devices back.
Initially, the bank deployed mobile ATMs in 19 cities. However, the bank aims to cover 50 locations across the country.
The main intention behind arranging mobile ATMs is to help customers during COVID restrictions and lockdown.
Since the mobile ATMs are operated at various places, customers can use them easily without going long distances for withdrawal of cash.
Currently, these mobile ATMs have been deployed in many major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Trivandrum, Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad, Cuttack, Vijayawada, Coimbatore, Salem, Dehradun, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Trichy, Hosur, Allahabad and Chandigarh.
These mobile ATMs can cover 3 to 5 stops in a day as they are operated at each location for a certain period in a day between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The bank identifies the locations with the help of local authorities.
Customers can use these mobile ATMs for carrying out 15 different types of transactions. Thus, they need not visit the bank branch or normal ATM for conducting banking transactions. Hence, the crowd at these places will be reduced.
All COVID-19 protocols should be followed at these ATMs. Regular sanitization is being done for the safety of staff as well as customers. The mobile ATM staff ensures proper maintenance of social distancing among customers while using the ATM. People shall use face masks and hand sanitisers.
