WhatsApp is one of the most widely used platforms in India. Due to its popularity, many banks are offering services on WhatsApp. They offer a host of banking services on this platform.

Some of these services are balance enquiry, blockage of a lost card, cheque book request etc.

The largest commercial bank, State Bank of India (SBI), announced launching banking services on WhatsApp soon.

At present, the SBI offers WhatsApp-based services to its credit cardholders only. They can use various services related to credit cards through WhatsApp under SBI Card WhatsApp connect.


Under this, credit cardholders can check their account summary, outstanding balance, reward points etc. They can also make card payments through this platform.

Credit cardholders of SBI can sign up for the system by sending a message OPTIN on WhatsApp to 9004022022. Alternatively, they can give a missed call to 08080945040 from their registered mobile numbers.

They can also sign up for the service through the mobile app. They can log in to the website and subscribe to the service. They can send an SMS WAOPTIN XXXX to 5676791 to sign up for the system. The XXXX means the last four digits of their card number.

Apart from SBI, many banks offer services on WhatsApp. They are Yes Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, IndusInd Bank, Axis Bank, IDFC First, and Bank of Maharashtra.

Customers of these banks can get several banking services. They can check account balance and recent transactions, place cheque book requests, redeem debit and card reward points, report unauthorized transactions, avail loans against fixed deposits, and view digital banking products.

Bank of Baroda also offered its services on WhatsApp. The bank, while announcing its services on WhatsApp, tweeted that customers of Bank of Baroda can avail of banking services round the clock. They can check their bank balance and mini statement, place a request for a chequebook and check its status and many more.
