NIC Scientist B Recruitment 2026: 243 vacancies announced

A major opportunity has opened for engineering graduates as the National Informatics Centre (NIC) announced its Scientist B Recruitment 2026.

A total of 243 vacancies have been released, making it a significant hiring drive in the government tech sector.

The recruitment process will rely entirely on GATE scores. Candidates must hold a valid score from GATE 2024, 2025, or 2026.

The detailed notification is expected after the declaration of GATE results. Therefore, aspirants should keep their scorecards ready.


The category-wise distribution of vacancies reflects broad representation. Out of 243 posts, 100 are for Unreserved candidates.

Additionally, 36 seats are allocated to Scheduled Castes, 18 to Scheduled Tribes, and 65 to Other Backward Classes (NCL). Another 24 posts are reserved for the Economically Weaker Sections.

Candidates will receive an attractive salary under Pay Level 10. The pay scale ranges from ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500 per month.

Moreover, selected candidates will be eligible for allowances such as House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Dearness Allowance (DA). With experience, the average annual salary can reach around ₹12.4 lakh.

The application process will be conducted online. First, candidates must visit the official NIC website and locate the application link.

Then, they need to register using a valid email ID. After that, applicants should fill in the required details carefully.

Furthermore, candidates must upload scanned copies of their photograph and signature as per the guidelines.

Once the form is complete, the application fee must be paid online using available payment methods. Finally, applicants should download and print the submitted form for future reference.

The application fee is ₹800 for General and other categories. However, candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwD, and women categories are exempted from paying the fee.
