NHAI opens deputy manager posts through GATE 2026
Infrastructure development continues to create promising career opportunities for engineering graduates across India.
In a major recruitment drive, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced vacancies for the post of Deputy Manager (Technical) through GATE 2026 scores.
NHAI will fill 60 positions in the Civil Engineering discipline through direct recruitment. The selected candidates will be placed in Level-10 of the 7th Central Pay Commission pay matrix, with a salary range of ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500 along with applicable allowances.
Since the post carries an All India service liability, applicants must be willing to serve anywhere in the country.
To be eligible, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised institution.
Additionally, a valid GATE 2026 score in Civil Engineering is mandatory. Candidates awaiting their final degree results may also apply.
However, they must submit the degree or provisional certificate by August 31, 2026. Otherwise, NHAI will cancel their candidature.
The recruitment offers opportunities across multiple categories. Out of the 60 vacancies, 26 are reserved for the Unreserved category, while the remaining posts are distributed among SC, ST, OBC, and EWS candidates.
Furthermore, four vacancies are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities under specified categories.
Applicants should note that the maximum age limit is 30 years as of June 15, 2026. However, age relaxation will be available for eligible reserved categories as per government norms. Importantly, candidates can avail only the highest applicable relaxation.
Unlike many competitive recruitments, NHAI will not conduct a separate written examination. Instead, selection will depend entirely on GATE 2026 scores.
If required, the authority may shortlist candidates further and conduct interactions or interviews. Therefore, a strong GATE performance will play a decisive role in securing selection.
Another important condition is the service bond. Selected candidates must execute a bond worth ₹5 lakh and serve NHAI for a minimum of three years. Failure to complete the bond period may result in recovery of the bond amount.
Online applications will remain open from May 15, 2026, to June 15, 2026.
Candidates should complete the process well before the deadline and regularly check the official NHAI website for updates, corrigenda, or further instructions.
