DRDO announces Dare to Dream Contest | Fusion - WeRIndia

To encourage citizens towards innovations, Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) launched Dare to Dream Contest in 2019. The first edition of the contest was announced in 2019. The DRDO has been announcing the contest for the last four years.

The fourth edition of the Dare to Dream Contest was announced by DRDO recently. The main aim of the contest is to promote innovations and encourage individuals and startups to develop technological and advanced solutions, mainly in Defence and Aerospace sectors.

DRDO received 5,637 applications in the last three contests, and so far, 52 individuals and 34 start-ups have been awarded support in these contests.

Any individual or startup can participate in the contest and share their ideas. DRDO will provide support to the best ideas to turn them into prototypes.

There are two categories in the contest. One is for individuals, and the other is for startups. In individual categories, adult Indian citizens, i.e. those aged above 18 years can participate. If they are participating as a team, a maximum of four members with a team leader is allowed.

Startups can participate in the startup category. But, they must be recognized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).

Employees of DRDO and their family members are not allowed to participate in the contest.

All participants can submit their ideas in 10 domains. You can check them on the DRDO website.

Each participant is allowed to apply for up to five areas of challenge. They have to select the areas of challenge while making submissions.

A cash prize of ₹5 lakhs will be awarded to winners under the individual category. For winning startups, the cash prize is ₹10 lakhs.
