Grants for Indian Women Documentary Filmmakers | Fusion - WeRIndia

If you are a woman and interested in documentary film making, then why don’t you try this out? Stared in 2005, this grant has been given to the Indian women documentary filmmakers. It is sponsored by the Indian Documentary Foundation in association with Chicken & Egg Pictures. More than $3.3 million has been awarded and 5,000 hours of mentorship to around 160 films has been provided since its establishment.

The films must focus on human rights, social justice, and environmental issues in touching and compelling way. Innovative film makers with unique visions and original stories that can have a huge impact on society with lots of diversity will be preferred.  The films should be directed or co-directed by a woman. This grant is meant for Indian film-makers who are based in India and have a registered office or workplace in the country. First time directors or mid-career film makers can also apply for this grant, but student film makers are not eligible to apply. Eligible candidates can apply between October 1, 2014 and November, 2014 on their website. Selected candidates will be notified by the end of January, 2015.
