Ways to retrieve your lost Aadhaar card
An Aadhaar card is one of the most vital documents in the country. So, it will become difficult if you lose it.
In this context, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) came up with a solution to help citizens if they lose their Aadhaar card.
There are two ways to retrieve your lost card, online and offline.
How to retrieve your Aadhaar card online?
Log into the UIDAI website and choose the My Aadhaar option under the Aadhaar Services section. Select Retrieve Lost or Forgotten EID/UID. You will be redirected to a new page where you will find two options: The first one is to retrieve Aadhaar No. (UID). Another one is to retrieve the Enrolment ID (EID). Choose any one of them.
Then fill in the fields with necessary information. Provide registered mobile number and email. If you don’t register your phone number with UIDAI, update the number first. Then complete the remaining information. Fill in the Captcha information and click on the Send OTP button. You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number or email ID. Enter it to verify the information. You will receive the Aadhaar number or Enrollment ID after the completion of the process. Using this information, you can download your e-Aadhaar copy from the website.
If you want to do it offline, then here are the details:
Visit your nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre and authenticate your biometrics. Authorities will give you the details of your Aadhaar number, with which you can get your e-Aadhaar at the Enrolment Centre.
You can also retrieve your Aadhaar card through the Helpline: Call UIDAI helpline number, 1947. Follow the instructions to connect with the help desk staff. They will give you your EID on the phone call. Get your Aadhaar number using this EID number through IVRS. Visit the enrolment centre and provide them with your biometrics and get your e-Aadhaar. You will have to pay a specified charge to retrieve your Aadhaar card offline. It is to update your demographic details.
