On the day that Ravan was slain by Ram, many people come to worship the former. This temple has a history of 150 years. As expected of a temple, devotees come to worship by lighting oil lamps and offering prayers.

The reason behind worshipping Ravan is simple. He is worshipped as an embodiment of Shakti and Gyan (Power and Knowledge). As is known according to the epics of India, Ravan was a devout worshipper of Lord Shiva. He was known to have acquired a lot of power and knowledge through his worship. That is why he is worshipped here.

This temple just so happens to be a part of the Shiva temple. He is considered to be a dutiful guard of Lord Shiva. This is why Ravan is considered holy here.

According to others, Ravan was truly born on the day he was slain – Dusshera. Hence, people come to worship him on this day.

Some say that when Ravan was dying, Ram wanted his brother Laxman to take the blessings of Ravan. This is because Ravan’s knowledge was considered to be vast even by Ram.

So, that is the story behind this temple where Ravan is worshipped on the day of Dusshera.
