Indian Mobile Users can watch YouTube Offline videos
Watching YouTube videos has always been one of the favourite past times for many youths. However, one problem that many youth face is mobile data being charged to watch videos. In order to help people minimize data consumption, YouTube has launched an offline video feature for Indian mobile users. The content from major Indian production houses like T-series, Saregama and Yashraj films will have the option to be made available.
The new feature enables users to turn a video offline while they are connected to Wi-Fi or when they have a data plan. The video will be stored in the mobile and the user can watch it later as many times as possible. This is especially useful for students who want to show a video multiple times to his/her friends. The video will be stored on the mobile for 48 hours. This means that it can be viewed any number of times without having to buffer again.
John Harding, the Vice President of Engineering at YouTube has stated that they found that 40 per cent of users from India watch YouTube videos on mobile. They felt that this feature would help those audience to have a better watching experience without having to worry about data costs. Furthermore, this enables smoother playback of videos without buffering.
